VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
(W) Geoff Johns
(A/CA) John Romita,
Klaus Janson
Geoff Johns and John Romita Jr. continue their stunning work on SUPERMAN with 'THE MEN OF TOMORROW' chapter five! Superman and Ulysses are an unstoppable team, thwarting the plot of one super-villain after another, but when Ulysses sees a larger menace threatening Earth why does the Man of Steel refuse to help him? Plus, Superman is about to undergo a metamorphosis...but what is it?
Date Available: 11/26/2014
BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

Let's start with the downside of this issue-the art continues to look a little rushed. Having seen JRJR's pencils in the Director's Cut for #32, I'm starting to think that lies more in the brush work of inker Klaus Janson. I'm usually a fan of meaty inking, but Romita Jr. is doing full pencils that would benefit from someone less heavy. (Where's Scott Hanna when you need him?)

If we're starting with the downside, there must be an upside, right? There is, and it is story based surprises from Geoff Johns. This won't ruin the twist, but it turns out we're not in the parallel lives story between Superman and Ulysses that Neil has been selling. There had to be a catch. It was very unlikely we'd have 8 issues of Superman making a friend and then moving on to a new story. We should be grateful it seems to be a genuinely surprising catch, at least for now.

I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
