SSHHH - IT'S THE X-MEN! When the Shi'ar Empire faces an unexpected threat, they must call upon the X-Men. Team co-captains Sunspot and Cannonball must lead Marrow, Tempo, Forge, Banshee, Strong Guy, Armor, and Boom-Boom on a secret mission to save Empress Xandra. Wait, those aren't the X-Men. Aren't those the mutants who lost the election?

Here's a secret, I don't care about superhero-team "elections" and haven't since DC wanted me to participate in a Legion vote sometime in 1974. (full disclosure-I did vote to kill Jason Todd...twice) Apparently, this team is made up of election losers, which seems really counter-intuitive but we live in a world where the losers still get to play. Anyway, the book is surprisingly solid, with a late '80's feel. It's not going to change anybody's life but it has all of the good things one associates with reading about an X-Team going to help space people, without the possibility of Jean Grey eating them because Echo wouldn't do that. It was just nice to read an X-book that I don't have to have blueprints to understand. Highly recommended for those of you who buy the X-line and look sad when you come to the counter, the six readers who've been patiently waiting for Marrow to finally have her day in the sun, and anybody who prefers to think of Krakoa as nothing more than a mutant Uber.

I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
