VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
(W) Ales Kot
(A) Tradd Moore, Heather Moore
(CA) Tradd Moore & Various
The United States of America-after the Second Civil War. Two lovers meet. One: a straight-edge vegan hacker anarchist boy with a penchant for messing with the State. The other: a chaotic, hedonistic cop with a reality TV show and a license to kill. This really shouldn't happen-and yet, somehow, it does. And soon, the entire state of New California is after them. This ballistic sci-fi action romance miniseries-in the vein of Mad Max and Romeo and Juliet-from ALEŠ KOT, TRADD MOORE, and HEATHER MOORE begins with a massive-sized debut issue, and features a backup comic introducing the talents of AARON STEWART-AHN and SUNANDO C!

A fascinating look at a not-to-distant future, this book had the feel of Martha Washington finding love in the pages of Space Wicked and Divine. It's a Pop Art cornucopia with bold, bright colors that gives you a vibe similar to reading a Bollywood version of Watchmen off of a blanket purchased at an Arabian Bazaar. I thought it was the most impressive thing I read this week. Highly recommended for those who feel like they're living in a game show right now, those who want their dystopian futures to have some utopia sprinkled about, and anybody that thinks every page of a comic should look like a pinball back-glass from 1976.

I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams
