VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
Written by Scott Lobdell, art and cover by Dustin Nguyen.
An Earth-based empire of science is attacked by an empire of magic - causing decades of war and casualties in the hundreds of millions. Welcome to the future that is...Manifest Eternity. The intergalactic war between two advanced civilizations spans an entire century. From the opening shots of the first contact to the final, apocalyptic battle, this ambitious new series will show every side of the conflict. Each issue spotlights a new group: monsters who pilot zombified dragon dreadnoughts; elite fighter pilots from Earth; the shadowy figure named Tarkington. Could he have betrayed all of humanity decades before the start of the hostilities?
Available: June 7th 2006
BONUS REVIEW by W. DAL BUSH
Manifest Eternity #1 by W. Dal Bush If you want a good sci-fi series that isn't full of boring exposition and two-dimensional characters pulled from a played-out license (cough*STAR WARS*cough) and isn't Battlestar Galactica, grab this Wildstorm epic. Normally hit-or-miss writer Scott Lobdell reveals an amazing ability to create a fleshed-out futuristic universe unlike any we've seen before, packed with all the subtlety you'd expect from the publisher of Planetary and Ex Machina, while artist Dustin Nguyen recovers from his recent downward slide to produce the most interesting and expressive work of his career. An exceptional book that sets up what promises to be an equally exceptional series.
I give it 9 Grahams
