Madame Xanadu #20 (2008)

Madame Xanadu #20 (2008)

$3.50
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
Written by Matt Wagner
Art by Joëlle Jones & David Hahn
Cover by Amy Reeder Hadley
Presenting the conclusion of guest artist Joëlle Jones’ flashback revealing Madame Xanadu’s earliest days. Squabbles with the young immortal’s sister Morganna intensify and turn bloody as the world of Fairy and Roman conquest vie for domination of pre-history Britain.
Date Available: 02/24/2010
BONUS REVIEW by MOLLY MALONE

Beginning in Roman Britain and progressing into the mythos of the Arthurian era, this issue goes even further into the relationship between Madame Xanadu/Nimue and her sister Morgana. We see a little Julius Caesar, meet a young seer named Merlinus, and finally see Morgana start to become the villainess we all know and love to hate. The art is good, not as good as regular series artist Reeder-Hadley's, but good. An attractive mix of history, myth and comics.
I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
