Residing on Earth and out of the hero game, Adam Strange finds himself trying to live a 'normal' life, until he's literally pulled back into adventure again when a seemingly normal Zeta beam transmission returns him to the planet Rann, where he hopes to be reunited with his beloved Alanna. But instead he finds the once-great city of Ranagar in ruins, with millions dead, and the once peaceful Alanna is now calling for the blood of Rann's oldest enemy, Thanagar, home of the Hawkmen. Sensing something is amiss, Strange finds an ally in Hawkman, who also is trying anything possible to avert war. Don't miss the start of this sensational new six-issue miniseries!

Yet again, DC tries to recapture the glory days of the 1960's Strange Adventures bringing back fan favorites Adam Strange and Hawkman. I had been hoping that we'd be seeing the revamp here go a little more smoothly like in the 1999 return in JSA. Although it's n...ice to see an attempt at one of DC's more iconic characters, this still feels like a mish-mash of story ideas and costumes. Hawkman's costume tries to blend the classic colors with the New 52 "Savage" version. Hey guys, remember Savage Hawkman didn't make it two years! As for Adam Strange, his cool 60's-70's cool spaceman look has been replaced by some sort of hip hop sports gear. Where's the cool two tank, x strap jet pack that was the envy of my neighborhood back in the day? Luckily, Adam spends most of the issue out of costume and living life on Earth. Thanks for the blatant villain giveaway on the cover and the not so hidden clue on page 21. Biggest complaint, the title reads Death of Hawkman but he only shows up on 3 pages? Hopefully, when this mini-series ends and Hawkman dies, he'll be reborn as something cool again. If you were a big fan of the Rann Thanagar War mini-series you'll like this.

I give it 5 out of 10 Grahams
