VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
Written by Geoff Johns Art and covers by Ethan Van Sciver

Barry has returned to a world that a man out of time wouldn’t recognize. All the running he’s done was just a warm-up, because even though one speedster might have beaten death, another has just turned up dead!

Date Available: 06/10/2009
BONUS REVIEW by Matt Streets

After untangling the ungodly mess that had become Hal Jordan’s continuity in the excellent Green Lantern Rebirth series, it seems only natural that Geoff Johns can do it again with Barry Allen and the Flash. But boy does he have his work cut out for him: dead Flashes, future Flashes, resurrected Flashes, an ever-expanding Rogues gallery, Wally’s annoying speed-powered kids, and the convoluted, continuity-ignorant nightmare that was Final Crisis. Johns tackles all of these problems and more in this fantastic first issue, while Ethan Van Sciver puts in some of the best artwork of his career (extras props for the coolest Flash Museum I’ve ever seen). Flash comics have been an embarrassment for years, but it looks like Rebirth will finally turn all that around and leave those bad ideas and plotlines in the dust.
I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams
