The High Republic: A massive, interconnected cross-publisher initiative focused on an all-new era of Star Wars storytelling. Centuries before the Skywalker saga, a new adventure begins ... Guardians of the Whills: The Force is with me, and I am one with the Force. - Chirrut Îmwe Presiding over the Kyber Temple on Jedha, the Guardians of the Whills, Baze Malbus and Chirrut Îmwe, had hoped to maintain a peaceful balance despite the growing presence of the Empire in their Holy City. Yet they struggle to stay true to the Force as stormtroopers threaten to take over. When a rebel named Saw Gerrera appears offering them a chance to help Jedha, Baze and Chirrut must decide if they're willing to compromise for peace, or if Saw's plan is too dangerous to risk?? Star Wars: Guardians of the Whills introduces Baze and Chirrut before they meet the Rebellion members who turn the tide in the fight against the Empire in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Writer Jon Tsuei and manga artist Subaru bring the origin story of this fan favorite duo to life in a new manga adaptation based on the novel by Greg Rucka. Preview Material Rating: Teen

A book designed to get you to buy a book, and designed successfully.

If you've been enjoying Marvel and IDW's Star Wars High Republic books (and many of you have, they're the best selling SW ongoings for each company), you're probably looking for more material from this era. VIZ has your back. They're launching a series of original High Republic manga, starting with The Edge Of Balance. The first 15 pages are included here, and they could hardly feel more manga, from inner monologues about honor, unnecessary screaming, and more movement lines than you can shake a pen at.

The second feature is the first 15 pages of the adaptation of Greg Pak's novel Guardians Of The Whills. It features early adventures of Rogue One's breakout characters Baze Malbus and Chirrut Imwe. It's not as nicely drawn as the first feature. Its big strength is in the odd couple interactions of the leads, which are fresh and familiar at the same time. Both are easy to recommend to Star Wars fans, or people looking to be fans of Star Wars.

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
