Divided States Of Hysteria #1

$3.99
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
(W/A/CA) Howard Chaykin
An America sundered. An America enraged. An America terrified. An America shattered by greed and racism, violence and fear, nihilism and tragedy... ...and that's when everything really goes to hell.

BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

This book won't be for everyone. I read to try and figure out what people who do read it will be complaining about. Content wise- most everything. There's extra marital sex, murderous transgendered prostitutes, infidels and Allah, a good deal of profanity, and a ranting lettercol that clearly makes sense to the author.

I'm a Howard Chaykin fan, so none of those things surprised me. The lack of focus did. The boring, repetitive page layouts did. The rotating story lines that connect at so few points that it feels like an anthology book did. The attempt to build an ever present NSA feeling into the panel structure did.

I guess the big problem that I have with it is that it wasn't a very good comic containing all that offensive material.

I give it 4 out of 10 Grahams
