New York Times best-selling author Brad Meltzer (IDENTITY CRISIS, JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA) makes his return to the DC Universe — and superstar artist Adam Kubert (ACTION COMICS) is riding shotgun! The final battle is quickly approaching. How do the heroes of the DCU prepare for the end? Whom do they approach and say goodbye to before they make the ultimate sacrifice? Featuring the entire DC Universe, Meltzer takes us deep into the hearts and psyches of our heroes. It's the day before you die. What would you do?

Brad Meltzer is an odd character. I, for one liked his stuff on JL of A, but I know a lot of you out there didn’t, so I’m going to approach this from your perspective. He’s such a high profile writer, and every new project he’s attached to gets huge amounts of buzz. But when the finished product crosses the hands of the general public there seems to be an audible sigh of disappointment. This applies to DCU:LW&T as well. I’m sure a lot of people out there were expecting something big out of Meltzer, but what we get is more of what he did with JL of A and Identity Crisis. It’s a good, solid story (and one I enjoyed, but remember, we’re approaching this from your point of view) but there’s really no payoff. I mean, were we really clamoring for a story about Geo-Force? There’re some really insightful things about super-heroes addressed, just like there were in his previous works, but in the end it turns out to be like Chinese food… it satisfies for a little while, but before long you’re hungry for something else.
I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
