Inspired by Charles Dickens' immortal classic A Christmas Carol, BATMAN: NOEL features different interpretations of The Dark Knight, along with his enemies and allies, in different eras, from writer/artist Lee Bermejo (JOKER). In this spectacular, oversized graphic novel, Batman must come to terms with his past, present and future as he battles villains from the campy 1960s to dark and brooding menaces of today, while exploring what it means to be the hero that he is.
BONUS REVIEW by PASTOR SAM

The other night I jokingly told my wife that the day after Halloween now officially marked the beginning of the Christmas season. So, you can imagine my amusement upon the realization that Batman Noel would drop the day after this statement was made. Though if I had to choose a way to kick off the season I would be hard to pressed to find a better one. This. book. is. amazing. Lee Bermejo obviously poured all of himself into this and we have an end result that is truly beautiful. As both writer and artist his vision is gloriously splashed across the page. You can potentially read this book multiple times and still find something new each time in the art. Also truly amazing is that this is an artist taking a shot at writing, and it doesn’t disappoint. His words have both a power and poetry that stay with you long after the last panel. The basic premise of his story is that it is A Christmas Carol set in Gotham City, to give away anymore would be to detract from the surprising discovery of how the story unfolds. This book comes in a close third on my holiday list reading behind the original Christmas Carol and, of course, the Bible. To this point I cannot ever recall giving a 10, nor do I see doing that again anytime soon because it denotes perfection. Here you go Lee, Merry Christmas, your book made the “nice” list this year.
