This is a frustrating issue of Axis. The story is fine, the dialogue is fantastic, and the Dodson's do some nice figure work, but..... There's always a but, huh? For as nice as their figure work can be, the backgrounds in this issue scream "We're not here!!!" in almost every panel. If they looked deliberately minimalist, that would be one thing. They look neglected instead. That's a shame too, because there are some terrific environments in the issue- New York, San Fran., Latveria...and what happens-moments between Scarlet Witch and Doom, Tony and Matt, The X-Men and the cowering heads of state from around the globe...would only be improved if set in the environments they purport to exist in. I'm looking forward to Lenil Francis Yu's return. I give it 6 out of 10 Grahams VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
