\"\"\u00a0TALES OF THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS GUY GARDNER #1<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, DC had to give Guy Gardner a one-shot. I mean he did a good job popping up in the last Superman movie and generated a lot of buzz. And right about now would be the time I would start moaning and complaining about comic companies trying to capitalize on their movies. Forcing a comic on us because the movie did well. And as much as I like a good dressing down of a current comic, this one is not the case. Gerry Duggan does an excellent job of weaving an interesting story using both old and new aspects of the Green Lantern Corps. This version of Guy is spot on the money. Both in his ability to be the most obnoxious person in the room and yet you still care about him. And while this also acts as a rather abrupt ending to the mystery of the Manhunter androids, it opens up a few future plot points that have merit. Toss in some John Stewart and some Kilowog and this is a well rounded story. 8 out of 10 Grahams.<\/p>\n

I find it amazing that we are thirty-three issues into this delightful little black and white magazine. Some of it can be chalked up to nostalgia but a lot of it has to do with the creative crew at work here. Just like the good old days, this magazine has a bullpen of artists and writers who know their stuff. Whether it be the dark panels of artist Harold Robertson about a vampire mummy or a truly odd story by writer Don Glut about an undead Shogun’s daughter, this title has a little bit for everyone as long as they like their horror stories. 8 out of 10 Grahams.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0TOMORROW GIRL #18\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0ANTARCTIC PRESS<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Part three of Tomorrow Girl’s newest story arc finally gives us the details of the Golden Age heroes plan and what exactly they were fighting against. And with cameos of the best and brightest of the roster of Public Domain heroes and villains, this is a love letter to those of us who know Merlin the Magician (formally from Quality Comics) and Atoman (formally of Spark Publishing). Writer Davis Furr really has a feel for tales of the 1940’s and manages to roll in Ben Dunn’s current heroes in a classic style. And between flashbacks and fight scenes, Terry Parr’s art illustrattes the tale nicely. And with a weird little back-up story of SuperMango to close out this issue, issue eighteen continues to be worth picking up. 8 out of 10 Grahams.<\/p>\n

All right. So it only took me until the 5th printing of this issue to check it out. But I figure since it’s on it’s fifth printing and issues two through seven are getting new printings as well, it might be worth looking into. And we are off to a very weird start. As writer Deniz Camp introduces us to Ashley, a young working woman who’s universe is falling apart because time appears to be unravelling. Armed only with her cell phone and a broken clock, she tries to navigate a world where one day, she discovers that she never worked at her job, her apartment is on a block that is being used for a film or is in the middle of a war zone. As her friends begin to vanish from existance or are killed, she is starting to lose her grip. And what’s with the old man on the street screaming cryptic statements. An opportunity to get caught up on a rather unique story. 8 out of 10 Grahams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
