Astonishing X-Men #22

$4.00
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
Written by JOSS WHEDON Pencils and 50/50 Covers by JOHN CASSADAY
“UNSTOPPABLE” The X-Men are on the run on Breakworld. Can they keep the warlords of Breakworld from killing Colossus? If his life means the destruction of an entire planet, SHOULD they save him? Part 4 (of 6)

"Holy God, is this Breakworld thing still going on? Well, if my memory can stretch back to the Paleolithic Era, I can sort-of remember what the hell’s going on, but should I bother? The art’s mostly-gorgeous (yeah, I never warmed up to that Danger design) and the writing is chilly and intense when Whedon occasionally gets outside of his too-cute comfort zone (“We outrun these warships NEVER.” Ugh.), but the last page “shock”… I just can’t buy it. It’s a trick Whedon’s pulled WAY too many times. And that sort of takes the wind out of it. So it doesn’t work. And that’s a big problem. But not as big a problem as the fact that this Breakworld thing has ANOTHER two issues to go."
