X-Men #189 (2004)

$4.50
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
Written by Mike Carey, pencils and cover by Chris Bachalo.
Mike Carey and Chris Bachalo take over the X-Men, or at least what's left of them! As old threats are still having their effects, new, more deadly threats emerge from the unlikeliest of places. Threats that spell doom for the X-Men. Plus, what could possibly strike terror into the heart of...Sabretooth!? And who are The Children? A perfect starting point for any new reader!
BONUS REVIEW by DAL BUSH
Last week I called Uncanny X-Men #476 "a fun take on X-Men that's more focused and driven than the generally aimless 'something attacks the mansion' plot that everyone else is doing". Witness! X-Men #189! It's part two of a six-part story, so expect (or is it Xpect?) tons of confusing situations that'll hopefully be crystal clear by part six. Until then, you can watch a bunch of characters you don't know (and a couple you do) show up at the mansion for next month's punch-'em-up. Not awful, just really tired and predictable. Art's good, though.
I give this one 6 out of 10 grahams!
