Fantastic Four #568 (1998) newsstand edition

$6.50
VERY FINE-/VERY FINE
Written by MARK MILLAR & JOE AHEARNE Pencils & Cover by BRYAN HITCH
The penultimate chapter of THE MASTER OF DOOM, as Reed Richards is offered a Solomon’s choice by the triumphant Marquis of Death! 32 PGS.
Date Available: 07/01/2009
BONUS REVIEW by JOHN ROBINSON

Mark Millar writes, Bryan Hitch pencils most of the book (and when he doesn't, it's very jarring). The cover foreshadows what you get inside. A gigantic train wreck. This issue runs in about 5 different directions, art is sloppy and the inks look blurry. Sometimes Ben Grimm's girlfriend is a young and attractive, other panels she's in her 60's. The pacing is one miserable mess, the read is completely unsatisfying, yet I trudge along and still give it a 5 out of 10. I'm praying for some kind of pay-off next issue, as Millar is typically a terrific writer and Hitch is typically a terrific artist. While very nice (and unusual)to get a new FF issue only 3 weeks after the last. If this is what I can expect for a timely book, I'd rather wait 6 weeks and get quality thank you very much.
I give it 5 out of 10 Grahams
