Decades ago a regular house cat was sent into the unnatural realm called Wonderland. Not long after did that feline grow to become another entity altogether as it formed a consciousness and self-awareness that only Wonderland could provide and found a power that turned an innocent kitten into a killing machine. Now the feline they call the Cheshire Cat is trapped back in this world and is beginning to develop something that never seemed possible: a conscience. After being taken in by a caring sorority girl, the once evil being is finally getting a taste of what being loved and cared for truly feels like. Can this cat change his stripes or will the evil inside of him ultimately be unleashed?

BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS

From Zenescope Entertainment comes the blood drenched latest installment in their Wonderland comic franchise. In this one-shot, the Cheshire Cat attempts to get his groove thing back, seeking to transform from a mild-mannered cat to something a little bit more spectacular, something…let’s just call it, “disconcerting”. Zenescope reshaped the Lewis Carroll classics (he wrote two Wonderland books, don’t you know) under a Grimm Fairy Tales tagline, and flipped his family friendly universe from one filled with paradoxes and puzzles, to something malignant that enjoys pain and punishment, especially against xenophobes and loose women. It’s straight horror, in other words, and while the art (by Eduardo Ferigato) does a decent job of carrying along the action, the story itself enjoys two dimensional characters who dismiss, or bully, the resident cat lover. If you enjoy horror, this is a sharp tale; if not, then I advise reading the original classics.
I give it 5 out of 10 Grahams
