BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS

A couple items pulled me to look at this issue of Elephantmen, a title from Image. The first are the duo covers (on the “back” and “front” of the issue). The one, with the main character, Miki, drawn in a skimpy outfit, asking “But is it art?”, made me think of the days when everything had to have the Comics Code Authority stamp on it. A few pages discuss it; Miki’s mom converses with her about her choice of painting ideas. Miki’s day goes somewhere else, from there, but eventually we get to the second topic that got me interested: ancient religions, and fertitilty (see the other “cover”). An evenly-paced issue, well-drawn by Marian Churchland, I enjoyed how it fleshed out character over melee. Yes, Elephantmen has my attention.
I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
