"New Krypton" part 7! As Superman attempts to free the other cities and abductees from Brainiac's ship - including the original monster military unit, the Creature Commandos - Lex Luthor experiments on Brainiac himself. Meanwhile, rebuilt and out for blood, Metallo and Reactron attack, and a major turning point for one of our characters sheds a dark shadow across all that is good

BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS

Waiting to see a werewolf, vampire, and a Frankenstein monster (not to mention a Medusa and robot) on an Action cover? Well, you’re wait is over. It’s the return of the Creature Commandos as the New Krypton plotline continues. In this one, which continues from Superman #682, Superman confronts Kandorian Alura (Supergirl’s mother) to get the names of the Kandorians who, um, let’s just say broke the law. But there are subplots, of course, with repercussions on how 100,000 Kryptonians do business on Earth. Geoff Johns has had an excellent run with JSA, and he crafts a compelling story here. The art works, too, with some nice pencil work in areas. Looks like big changes for Superman…In my mind, he’s been consistently well written for years, and the great stories keep on rolling along.
I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams
