I have found that the most recent story arcs in DC's Superman titles to be wonderfully great reads of late, so I was very excited to get my hands on this particular 1-shot New Krypton has some nicely done collaberation work from Geoff Johns and James Robinson (both of these fantasic writers are the current scribes for the Superman and Action titles currently out now), along with their well accomplished artists they work with. New Krypton truly serves as a great "jumping on" point for new readers. The book covers the most recent happenings in all parts of the Superman universe, and gets them up to speed on what the "Man of Steel" has been up to. I'm not revealing those events here, so track down the back issues of Action (#'s 866-870) and Superman (#'s 677-680) to get that story. You don't really need to do that to get some enjoyment out of this book. There are some nice short story pieces for the people who have been following these titles on a regular basis. There is 2 or 3 rather big spoilers as to what is coming in future issues as well. New Krypton also marks the return of the old "tri-angle numbering system" that was used in the 90's to help readers follow the storylines across the different Superman titles of that time. If you find yourself intriuged by what you read here, the next installment of this particular story will arrive in Superman # 681. Ultimately, this is a great place to have new readers catch on to what has been some of the best stories told in the Superman Uninverse in quite some time.
I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
