Come see the beginning of a whole new Runaways! Comics legend Terry Moore (Strangers in Paradise, Echo) and super-star artist Humberto Ramos (X-MEN, WOLVERINE, SPIDER-MAN) run back to Los Angeles with your favorite teen heroes. But it’s not the same city they left so long ago. The Runaways try to stay off the radar, but the sins of their parents won’t make that possible…

There’s a lot of flak being thrown in Joss Whedon’s direction for his work on Runaways, and a lot of it is undeserved. Sure, it took him an awfully long time to finish the book but the story, in my opinion was strong and the dialogue was stellar. But my point is that I think a lot of readers are a little gun-shy about Terry Moore taking the reins after the Whendon “debacle.” Rest assured, though friends, Terry Moore obviously knows what he’s doing as evidenced in the first issue. The story is a typical first issue where there’s a lot of set-up but not a lot of payoff, but the banter is bang-on and the characters are each given their due. Another bone of contention fans have had is Humberto Ramos on art. Now, again I don’t hate Ramos like A LOT of people do, but I can safely say that this is some of his strongest work to date. He’s just a perfect fit for this book.
I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams
