Fantastic Four #558 (1998)

$24.99
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
Written by MARK MILLAR Pencils & Cover by BRYAN HITCH

Who are the New Defenders, and why does their appearance on Earth foretell the eventual extinction of mankind? Who has liberated Doctor Doom from his incarceration awaiting trial, and why? And what's up with Valeria? (Oh, and the Fantastic Four are in it too...)
BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS

Mark Millar hits it big. Being a long term FF fan, I’ve waited for another killer story. For me, this one fits the bill: the Thing has a new girlfriend (who may have issues); the Human Torch has a girlfriend (who does have issues); a new nanny for the kids (who is she, really?); more than one kid in the family (with a cool scene with the daughter!); and Doctor Doom. The art is gritty, but with a title of “The Death of the Invisible Woman Part I”, it should be gritty. There’s been time travel/Doc Doom stuff a lot lately with this book, but it’s all good. All good, I say, and I can’t wait for Part II.
I give it 10 out of 10 Grahams
