(W) Gerard Way, Shaun Simon (A) Becky Cloonan (CA) Becky Cloonan, Dan Jackson Phantom Cover Years ago, the Killjoys fought against the tyrannical megacorporation Better Living Industries, costing them their lives, save for one-the mysterious Girl. Today, the followers of the original Killjoys languish in the Desert while BLI systematically strips citizens of their individuality. As the fight for freedom fades, it's left to the Girl to take up the mantle and bring down the fearsome BLI or else join the mindless ranks of Bat City! Date Available: 06/12/2013

Killjoys is finally here! What a delightful thing it is, too, in all its effortless intelligence and whimsy. The central concept is post-apocalyptic-action-horror, but the bizarre culture and madcap characters inhabiting this world are not nearly so dreary. A young female of some spiritual/political(?) infamy, accompanied by her sensitive cat, regroups after a history-making battle severely handicaps her ability to survive. Bloodthirsty foes! Strange allies! Gerard Way has another winner here with this follow-up to the inspired Umbrella Academy! I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
