THEN!…Peter Parker spent a lifetime living up to the responsibilities his powers foisted upon him but his Amazing story finally ended dramatically in the historic Spider-Man #700. NOW!…The new Amazing Spider-Man has arrived and he is better in every single way. Smarter, stronger…Superior.

I feel obligated to review this, considering my disappointing experience lead to the most scathing review of ASM #700. So how does Superior fare to the eight dollar copy of #700?? Leaps and bounds above the latter! For half the price!!

However confusing this statement might be, seeing how Dan Slott penned both, I rather enjoyed this read. Maybe it was the pressure of writing the death that got to Slott; but this is a return to regular form with great pacing, energy, and an excitement that feels true to previous issues that I really enjoyed.

My only critique **SPOILER** is that his Peter Parker reveal at the end came a tad quick for my tastes. String me along for the next 6 issues, and then have your first trade paperback end with this huge cliffhanger!! It was spoiled, just way too soon for the readers to be shown that, yes, he’ll be back. I also had so many questions as to HOW he’ll ever return, but with ONE issue all my questions are answered, so if I wanted to I could just wait for his return…if it wasn’t so good!

But I’ll be coming back for this sick, twisted take on the ever loved Spider-man, regardless of how bad my skin crawls!! I need a shower, and so does Mary Jane.

I give it 7 out of 10 Grahams
