BONUS REVIEW by John 'Doc' Schaefer

Back in the late 1950's comedian Ernie Kovacs spoofed the current westerns fad that was filling the airwaves at the time. Some 60 years later, we are watching history repeat itself only with zombies this time. Super-Hero zombies, regular zombies, cheerleading zombies, fanboy zombies, nazi zombies (the only part of the genre I can still stomach), parallel earths full of zombies, even Charles Dicken's zombies! What could possibly be left? And then along comes Rex. Rex: Zombie Killer. See the gimmick here is that Rex well he's a dog and along with his animal cohorts have to deal with the zombies. The interesting part is that this book has a certain charm that I liked. Maybe it's the quiet niativity of the sign language speaking gorilla as he is forced to crush zombie skulls or the I can do this attitute of the Corgi mix (that's detail when they list the animal's breed in the opening credits!). Rex provides interesting insight into the human condition as all humans are basicly evil in our character's eyes. Plus extra bonus points for including character stamps in the book reminiscent of Marvel character stamps of the 1970's. Rex is a bit of fresh air among the rotting corpse smell of today's zombie fad
