Can a book be awesome and not so much all at the same time? I'm saying yes. Old Man Logan has a ton going for it, most importantly the most sparse writing Bendis!(tm) has ever done. He's clearly had a western sitting inside him waiting to get out. His Logan is warm and reverent. He's also insanely, graphically violent. Be warned, this is as gory as mainstream comics get, maybe more so, and its not for kids by any stretch of anyone's imagination. That gore is drawn by the great Andrea Sorrentino. Half of her work here is great, and up to the challenge of the minimalist script. The other half is difficult to work out just what it is we're looking at. It's all hurt by coloring that is at best distracting and at worst seemingly designed to obscure what the intent of a panel is. Those weaknesses don't detract too badly, and that leaves the book as a big winner.

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
