Legendary Star-Lord #9 (2014)

$5.00
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
(W) Sam Humphries (A/CA) Paco Medina
The 3rd chapter of the BLACK VORTEX! With a schism forming within the assembled heroes, the youngest among them face the temptation of immeasurable power. Sometimes those with great power shirk their responsibility to use it for good, though. And with Knife and his new business partner looking to take back the Black Vortex, the group may have left themselves defenseless. Rated T

BONUS REVIEW by Gavin Rehfeldt

"Where's the Black Vortex!?" "Not the Black Vortex!" "He took the Black Vortex!!" "The Black Vortex is mine!" "The Black Vortex is the universe!" "The Black Vortex is missing!!!" "BLACK VORTEX!!!!" If you enjoy beloved Marvel characters repetitively SCREAMING at each other, then this week's Star Lord installment is for you! For the rest of us, this third installment of the Black Vortex is more of the same: explosions and contrived conflict. There is a line from Gamora that takes what shred of emotion could be at the heart of this story and exploits it for a cheap shock. So far, this event is krutacking bad, but Medina's art was serviceable and helped more than hurt. It's difficult to praise interiors, however, when it is in service of such a weak story.

I give it 3 out of 10 Grahams
