From the depths of outer space to the frozen wasteland of Antarctica, punk rock and heavy metal's most shocking and blasphemous band of intergalactic blood spewing alien monsters has returned to kill everything and respect nothing in the pages of GWAR: Orgasmageddon! Banished to the past by the cold and calculating Mr. Perfect, the heroes of GWAR trample through time like a deranged Bill and Ted on bath salts - antics ensue as they stomp and smash and shape human history to what we accept as our current reality. Co-written by GWAR themselves and Matt Miner (Toe Tag Riot, Critical Hit), GWAR: Orgasmageddon is a love letter to comics, grindhouse movies, and heavy metal - sure to appeal to the most die-hard fan and the comics fanboy/fangirl intrigued by the prospect of social awareness drowned in geysers of blood and alien goo.

One of the most interesting things about a book like this is that fact that it's coming so far out of left field that you don't know what to expect. So when this oddball showed up on the newsstands, it was worth checking out. Gwar the band has been around since 1984 and I should know because I interviewed the band back then when they appeared at the Villa Park Odeum for a Halloween convention. The core themes of the band and it's characters are pretty much represented but that's to be expected as it's written and drawn by various members of the band. The great news is that if you can tolerate a lack of political correctness, this is a very good read. The basic Sci-Fi premise fits in well in the comic format and the art is very well done. A shout out to Dynamite for actually getting this on the stands.

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
