A heroic pack of canines known as the Wise Dogs set off on a mission to clean up a Pennsylvania corridor plagued by seemingly unrelated occult disturbances that include a fire salamander and a horde of mutant lurkers. A link is found among the various disturbances, leading our heroes to a mountain village inhabited by a survivalist witch-cult who have discovered the existence of a 'Blood Lure' attracting occult forces, creatures, and many more terrors to Burden Hill! o The eight time Eisner-winning series is back! o Variant cover by Rafael Albuquerque! 'Beasts of Burden balances humor, heart, and horror and fosters the contrast necessary to elevate a genre.'-MTV
Date Available: 08/22/2018
BONUS REVIEW by Kevin Healy

Beasts of Burden is a fairly long running series of stories from writer Evan Dorkin (Dork, Milk and Cheese, Eltingville Club, Predator:Bad Blood. No, really.)

The premise is simple-there are monsters in the world, there are animals who are aware and fight those monsters, protecting not just their humans but the Earth itself. These are not tales for the family friendly audience. They are instead horror stories for a modern age, with love, loss, betrayal, and sacrifice. Much is done for the greater good. Many results are based around the lesser evil.

Normally, Jill Thompson would be here to paint some lovely artwork. She's missed, but Benjamin Dewey steps in and steps up, keeping the tone w/out missing a beat.

Recommended for fans of WE3, Red Rover Charlie, and especially Hellboy.
