Batman #34 (2011)

$5.00
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT
(W) Scott Snyder (A/CA) Matteo Scalera
ZERO YEAR is over, and the events of BATMAN: ETERNAL have put Gotham City in a tailspin, but Batman is focused on finding a killer who has haunted his hometown in secret for years. This special issue features art by Matteo Scalera (DEADPOOL, Black Science) and sets the stage for the next major Batman story in the fall.
Date Available: 8/13/2014
BONUS REVIEW by Gavin Rehfeldt

Fans of Scott Snyder's pre-New52 Detective Comics run take notice! This is one of the most authentically creepy Batman stories I have read, which also introduces a new villain making a new statement on being a villain in Gotham City. After the manic qualities of Death of the Family, and the gamesmanship of Zero Year, this exceedingly chilling tale focuses on Leslie Thompkins's vanishing patients. It is yet another successful Snyder one-off serving as a break between events. This is a great book for anyone to jump in, and fits into the Batman Eternal status quo, but it does contain mature subject matter. Scalera's beautiful interiors lead up to a final page reveal that could induce nightmares.

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
