Annihilation Conquest Star-Lord #1 (2007)

$8.00
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT

Written by KEITH GIFFEN Penciled by TIMOTHY GREEN Cover by NIC KLEIN
Annihilation: Conquest continues here - - with the war book that brings back cosmic cult faves from throughout the decades! Peter Quill is once again Star-Lord - - but what could possibly make him take on his former identity? And what brings together the motley crew that includes Bug, Captain Universe, Deathcry, Mantis, Groot and Rocket Raccoon? Grab your blaster and say your prayers as Keith Giffen (ANNIHILATION) and soon-to-be star Timothy Green (Rush City) deliver a sci-fi twist on Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos!

BONUS REVIEW by W. DAL BUSH
Speaking of Strikeforce: Morituri, they get a kina-sorta little shout-out at the end, but the rest is your typical excellent snarky Keith Giffen sci-fi action gem. Washed up space hero Starlord gets rooked by the Kree survivors of the Conquest one-shot into putting together a squad of criminals (familiar faces all) that'll make a do-or-die raid on the Phalanx stronghold. A Suicide Squad, one might say if one remembered that Giffen worked on a title of the same name, grudgingily saving the folks who tossed 'em behind bars. A fairly worn premise, but again, the typically excellent snark of Keith Giffen keeps the whole thing simultaneously light and dark. Here's the Annihilation book for those looking for a way in to all the spacey goodness (other) folks have been raving about. 8 Grahams
