This February may be the shortest month of the year, but this time it's the BIGGEST month for AMAZING SPIDER-MAN! 'Awakening' We can't tell you what's in this issue without spoiling the end of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #654. But we can say this: Marcos Martin returns to AMAZING SPIDER-MAN in a full-length 30 page story that will haunt you. As the fallout of recent events continues to rock Peter Parker's world, he makes a choice-- a promise-- that even he might not be able to fulfill... 40 PGS.

Masterful. This is how you write a comic that deals with a 'death in the family'. Dan Slott's the best thing to happen to Spider-Man since Roger Sternn was behind the wheel. Dan & Marcos Martin treat us to 9 beautiful, sequential, silent somber pages of dealing with last issues death. Then you get another 19 more pages where Peter grapples with this death and all the others he's had to deal with in his life. A stunning 2 page spread showing a ton of the people that have died since coming in touch with Spider-Man/Peter, and finally how Peter vows to deal with this death and a lead in to our next storyline. Well worth the $3.99 entrance fee, ASM #655 has some truly great bits of dialogue, and is added to my ever growing pile of favorite Spider-Man issues. Very well done.
